Post #15: Today was the day for the Tour De Perry. The long course was a skoosh over 51 miles and 3,500ft of climb with the construction re-routes. I got some strange looks being at a road ride with a full squish 29er. Too be expected, oh well, not a big deal, a guy did tell me I was "Overbiked". I really dislike that term, as one section of road had fresh chip and seal, and it had a hard left turn down then up a hill, complete with a stop sign at the bottom of the hill. Guess who bombed it and rolled up the hill? This guy, overbiked my butt ;)
As I was leaving the bathroom before the start, someone did ask me why I was riding the 29er. I simply said, I'm visiting from Iowa and this was the bike I brought out, then I found out about this after I arrived. Someone heard Iowa and asked me about RAGBRAI. I asked them if they wanted to attend a week long frat party, he said no. I said well, it can be that if that's what you want, or you can wake up early, and get a hard ride in and race to the final town, and then rest and repeat. RAGBRAI can be whatever you want it to be. But in my heart, I know RAGBRAI is not my cup of tea. I have done one day, and well I really dislike crowds, and that is half the problem.
Back to the Tour De Perry. I may come back and ride it again, and I may do it on a fattie if I still have one. It was a solid 3hrs and 12 minutes of effort on my part. The section through Letchworth never disappoints, and well I always thank the support staff. But I sensed the riders did not approve of me actually keeping up with them. Overall I want to do the ride again. I like it, it was a simple fund raising ride, and I like simple things.
Cheers and Godspeed
